Pull Requests And Code Reviews

There are two words that will help open a lot of doors in life. Push and Pull. Here, we’re going to talk about Pull Requests. Pull requests have since become a standard part of the software development process and are closely associated with code reviews. Code reviews involve teamwork and collaboration on code and serve as one of the four main drivers of software development, alongside speed, quality, and efficiency.

The Gitential Guide on How to Reduce the Size of Your Git Repository

Unfortunately, there are no easy ways on how to reduce the size of your git repositories. However, there are quite a few ways to keep your repositories down to an efficient and easily manageable size. Many of them are fairly simple and can be set up fairly quickly. But, they probably won’t help you if you are already exceeding your repository cap on Bitbucket, Github, Gitlab, or Azure DevOps. For this scenario, we can help you identify what to target when it becomes necessary to deal with a large repository.

By GITENTIAL TEAM

We are happy to announce that our team continues forging ahead to make Gitential the most powerful automated analytics platform available. Below, you’ll find the newest features added this month to make it easier to improve your development productivity.

What's New

  • Guided tour: To have a better visibility on what features are available in the application we have started to implement a guided tour to walk you through Gitential. You can always access all available guides through the newly introduced information button at the right upper corner.
  • Filtering for author deduplication: Our automated author deduplicator can recognize multiple email addresses belonging to the same user but handling hundreds of user names can still require some manual data cleaning. We have introduced a quick filter to make the manual deduplication process easier for you.
  • Navigation upgrades: We made some upgrades to our navigation panel to make it more user friendly. You can find more information below on the specific improvements.
  • Demo project: we have created a demo project with a couple user stories you can navigate through and get familiar with business cases on how to analyze git data. To visit our demo project click here.

Guided Tour

20200810-release-guided-tour-02

To help our users to navigate easier in our application we are introducing guided tours. As a first step we have implemented a tour on:

  • How to create a new Project
  • How to set up a new Team
  • How to manage Collaborators for your account

You can even have quick access to our help center to get immediate answers to frequently asked questions. Did we miss something? If you don’t find your answer, please shoot us an email and we’ll get back to you asap.

Filtering for Author Deduplication

There are scenarios when you have to manually mark if some email addresses belong to a single developer or you want to change the name of your crew. Until now, you had the only option to scroll down in your developers’ list. Now you have the ability to filter for any developer, team or a particular repository where you want to make the modifications.

Demo Project

For those who would like to deep dive into different business scenarios on how to use git analytics, we have released a demo project where you can get familiar with different use cases on team performance analysis.
